Decoding Design, by Maggie Macnab, Book Review
Jacob Van Ness - 7/21/2008
Understanding and Using Symbols in Visual Communication. Today's fast paced world tends to lose track of its surroundings and move away from understanding nature's relationship. Ironically nature has embedded itself into all we do and it's a big part of logo design, even if we tend to be unaware of that.

Luxology Modo 302
Allen Harkleroad - 6/16/2008
I think I just found my new favorite 3D application. I've been a long-time user of 3ds max, Lightwave and several other 3D tools, and I will have to say that modo 302 blows them all out of the water.

Office:Mac 2008 Special Media Edition
Allen Harkleroad - 6/16/2008
I've been a longtime user of Microsoft Office both on Macintosh and Windows. Feature-wise and extensibility you just can't beat Office for productivity. I've been using Office X for a long-while and welcomed the opportunity to give Mac Office 2008 a review.

Xara Xtreme Pro 4.0 Review
Jacob Van Ness - 5/16/2008
Xara Xtreme Pro 4.0 is another attempt by the software company out of the UK to try to compete with "the big guns" of graphics software. Xara Xtreme Pro 4.0 is at heart a vector based program with some amazing features that allows an attempt at going toe to toe with other well known vector programs.

CorelDRAW Graphics Suite X4 Review
Tim Carden - 5/1/2008
It’s getting increasingly hard to find competitors in the professional graphics arena. Especially so now that Adobe has completely swallowed Macromedia in one surprisingly-quiet gulp. Fortunately Corel, with a renewed focus on the high-growth digital imaging market, appears to be sticking around for the long haul.

Topaz Vivacity - Advanced Photoshop Image Enhancement Suite Review
Jacob Van Ness - 3/16/2008
Like many cell phones my own comes with a camera. I have found myself using the camera more and more to capture those "at the moment" shots. Unfortunately I have come to find, if I zoom in my pictures become much smaller. This was a bit of a disappointment.

Take Your Photography to the Next Level, By: George Barr, Book Review
Adrienne Turcotte - 2/1/2008
Take Your Photography to the Next Level is based on a series of essays that were originally featured on the Luminous website, but it is not simply a reprint of those articles. Barr has rewritten much of the material for the book to expand upon and clarify the original information. He has also provided helpful photographic examples to illustrate complicated concepts in a way that hits home with the reader.

Adobe Photoshop Elements 6 & Adobe Premiere Elements 4 Bundle Review
Adrienne Turcotte - 1/15/2008
Adobe Photoshop Elements 6 & Adobe Premiere Elements 4 is a very powerful, very thorough photo and video editing package. The programs are also quite user-friendly, allowing the user to get started immediately and bypassing the steep learning curve common to many other programs (including the full version of Photoshop).

Adobe Photoshop Lightroom Review
Allen Harkleroad - 1/15/2008
I have to say that Adobe Photoshop Lightroom is just what the "doctor" ordered. In the past I used the Canon Professional digital camera tools and applications and found them quite lacking. I had been actively searching for a replacement set of tools that would work well with Photoshop and give me good tools to adjust and manipulate my RAW camera files.

Adobe Soundbooth CS3 Review
Jacquelin Vanderwood - 9/4/2007
Adobe Soundbooth CS3 is a new program where you can create and fine tune any audio for video. It's power is quite impressive and it's workflow is simple within the CS3 Production Premium Suite. However, you can only edit single tracks and there is no visual preview screen for noise reduction editing. Otherwise, it's an excellent tool for working within the Suite.
